Who will be the winner of new energy vehicles in 2022?
The beginning of all.
Everyday new technology and other innovation elements, increases the number of new competitors in the electric car industry. The disminution of the prices to acquire one of these revolutionary machines, the alternative batteries from lithium, the autopilot systems, the speed they can reach, the evolution of the electric cars has been fast. We saw the first electric car in 1888 in Germany, when Andreas Flocken made the first version of the futuristic machine. It only ran at 9 miles per hour and it weighed around 200 pounds. The path from there has been a race to a greener future.
How green is the competition getting?
Tesla Inc. popularized the modern term of the electric vehicle when it launched its first model in 2006 (the Tesla Roadster), and ever since, the industry began a race to create the best green vehicule for the users all around the world. The company created by Elon Musk seemed to open a competition with a great advantage. With a car in space and over 2,000 units sold by 2012, Tesla wore the electric crown. A lot has happened since. New competitors became fast also an attention focus when the options for the consumers started to diversify. Big names arised and became strong opponents to the Elon Musk brand. Names such as: Volkswagen, Toyota, SAIC, Renault, Nissan, Honda and BMW.
Who will wear the crown?
There is no doubt about how hard the competition has become for the industry. But there are still some new prospects to become the biggest producer of all. It is breaking news that China’s Warren Buffett-backed BYD has dethroned Tesla as the world’s largest electric vehicle maker, selling 77,000 more cars so far in 2022. BYD Auto Company Limited is a high-tech company devoted to technological innovations in electronics, automobiles, new energy, and rail transit. With over 30 industrial parks worldwide, BYD aims to provide zero-emission energy solutions, energy generation,
storage, and application.
The pandemic and other crises that have impacted the country of China, have not been able to stop its growth. BYD has become the first automaker worldwide to have complete expertise and intellectual property in three core technologies of electric vehicles, namely batteries, electric motors, and electronic controls. The company is also one of the leading manufacturers of power batteries, the world’s first plug-in hybrid compact sedan, and the first generation of BYD’s Dual-mode technology.
What could be next?
From beautiful designs, faster machines and even crazier marketing campaigns, the competition for the best electric car producer will continue. But besides the looks and style as main virtues of the competition, the next phase of the race might focus on a slightly different front. The batteries.
The improvement of the batteries production will diminish a percentage of the production cost. There are already some improvements and innovations in that field in China. Some producers are now using sodium batteries instead of the popular lithium one. Sodium batteries have proven to be more profitable and small than the lithium ones. The consumption of electric vehicles will grow even more thanks to their invention.
China is developing new technology really fast, and that could lead the country to become the undisputed world leader in the generation of electric vehicles.
