Chinese Famous Movement Icons
China is a country full of culture and traditions, following a history with more than 5,000 years. China, has its own civilization and there are different symbols or icons that define the country itself:
The Great Wall: The Great Wall symbolizes Chinese People's spirit and souls. This important icon is one of the greatest wonders, considered to be a World Heritage by UNESCO since 1987. The Wall crosses grasslands, mountains and deserts, becoming a remarkable piece for Chinese civilization and engineering.
The Giant Panda: Panda´s are one of the most important animals of China. However, they are on the verge of extinction. There are currently more than 1,000 giant pandas living in the world and China has one of the most important bases of Giant Panda Breeding.
Lanterns: Lanterns have always played an important role in Chinese culture and traditions. Lanterns in China have become an art of the traditional culture, inherited from generation to generation. Lanterns in China are made with paper and are used for happy celebrations such as The Lantern Festival. When there was no electricity during ancient China, lanterns were used as a tool of illumination for everyone.
Beijing Opera: Beijing Opera has a history of 160 years. It was created for presenting Chinese dramas with a large number of spectators. Costumes involved are elegant and brilliant, which are also made by hand.
Dumplings: Dumplings are considered to be an “art” for Chinese food. It is a traditional way for tasting Chinese culture. Families get together each New Year to eat Dumplings (most likely over freezing weather). Dumplings are really sweet and savory.
Five stars red flag: The flag of the People's Republic of China features a large star and four smaller stars in a semicircle set. The red color represents revolution and the five stars represent the unity of the country.
Cheongsam: It is a female dress with Chinese clothes, becoming part of the international world of high fashion.
Chinese Knotting: Chinese knotting is a very decorative handicraft art part of Chinese folk art during the Tang and Song Dynasty in China. The art is also known as “Chinese Traditional Decorative Knots”. Other asian cultures have adopted these traditional making techniques for other objects such as jewelry.
KungFu: Kung Fu is a popular Chinese martial art and has different meanings. It can be used for individual accomplishment or just skill learning.
Chinese Sedan Chair: It is a chair for carrying a popular person across China. It is known as the “shoulder carriage or sleeping sedan”. These seats were used during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and have a top with four sides and are enclosed with curtains.
